ITINERARY

What Your Adventure Will Look Like

Your adventure begins when you meet your Ultimate Adventures guide in Coniston, where you’ll get changed into your wetsuit and safety equipment before heading up to the start point above the gorge.

Once there, your guide will deliver a full safety briefing and introduce you to the canyoning equipment, including harnesses, ropes and abseiling techniques, ensuring you feel confident before the descent begins.

From here, the adventure gets underway as you begin your journey down through the gorge.

You’ll descend waterfalls using ropes, slide down natural rock slides and move through sections of flowing water shaped by the surrounding landscape.

Along the way, you’ll have the chance to jump into deep plunge pools, swim through clear mountain water and take on a variety of exciting canyoning challenges, all under the close guidance of your experienced instructor.

After around three hours in the gorge, you’ll finish with an incredible sense of achievement, unforgettable memories and plenty of photos from your Lake District canyoning experience.

Church Beck Canyoning is ideal for those looking for a more adventurous and physically engaging outdoor experience.

No previous canyoning experience is required, as full instruction and guidance will be provided throughout. However, this activity is more challenging than ghyll scrambling and involves heights, rope work and more technical movement.

Participants should have a moderate level of fitness and be comfortable around water, heights and physically active environments.

This experience is best suited to adults, groups and families with children aged 12 and over who are confident, active and looking for a thrilling Lake District adventure.

Optional Challenges

Throughout the adventure there will be opportunities to take on extra challenges, including higher jumps into plunge pools, more technical abseils and faster natural rock slides.

The beauty of canyoning is that everything is optional. If there’s something you’d prefer not to do, your guide will always offer a safe alternative route or method, allowing everyone to take part at their own comfort level.

Whether you want to push yourself and tackle every challenge or take a more relaxed approach and enjoy the journey through the canyon, the experience can be adapted to suit you.

What To Bring:

Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your session start time to allow time for introductions, equipment fitting and the safety briefing.

If you arrive late, it may delay the group or in some cases mean you are unable to take part in the activity, so please allow enough time for travel and parking.

Once you arrive, your guide will welcome you, check your booking details and provide the necessary equipment and safety briefing before the adventure begins.

All guests must sign a waiver. Our digital waiver is included in your confirmation email.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We understand that plans can change, so we aim to keep our cancellation policy as fair and straightforward as possible.

Cancellations made more than 14 days before your activity will receive a full refund or free transfer to another available date.
Cancellations made between 7 and 14 days before your activity will receive a 50% refund or free transfer to another available date.
Cancellations made between 48 hours and 7 days before your activity are non-refundable. A transfer to another available date may be offered at the discretion of Ultimate Adventures, subject to availability.
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the activity, including same-day cancellations and no-shows, are non-refundable and cannot be transferred free of charge.

Outdoor activities operate in a range of weather conditions and will only be cancelled or significantly amended where conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable by Ultimate Adventures.

If we need to cancel or significantly amend an activity due to severe weather, unsafe conditions or unforeseen circumstances, we will offer:

An alternative activity, or
An alternative date to rebook your experience

Where Ultimate Adventures cancels the activity and we are unable to provide a suitable alternative activity or rescheduled date acceptable to you, you will receive a full refund for the affected activity.

Please note that choosing not to attend because of weather or forecast conditions, where Ultimate Adventures has confirmed that the activity is going ahead, will be treated as a customer cancellation and the cancellation terms above will apply.

Please also note:

Group size reductions will be treated as cancellations for the affected participant(s) and will be subject to the cancellation terms above.
Date transfers are subject to availability and may normally be made once only.
Late arrivals may result in reduced activity time or inability to participate. Where an activity is missed due to late arrival, this may be treated as a no-show.
Nothing in this cancellation policy affects your statutory rights.
